Green Watt Energy is specializes in high efficiency PV module manufacturing and comprehensive EPC solutions. With a strong international footprint, Tata Power Solaroof Green Watt Energy is an active contributor in shaping the renewable revolution. With authorized with the largest solar company in India, we deploy world-class technology to design, install and commission benchmark solar projects worldwide. The highly skilled and diligent team ensures the completion of each solar plant from concept to commissioning including its operation and maintenance for the complete lifespan of the plant.

Solutions for Business

Tata Power Solar has been customizing solar plants to suit local site conditions to ensure best-in-class performance and a long life. The first floating solar system built on twin ponds with a capacity of 1.4 MW at Nellore, is a splendid example.

A floating solar power plant that uses otherwise unused space and has favourable operating conditions for the solar panels.

A floating solar plant has an increased efficiency due to cooling effect provided by the water surface. Also, since it covers the water surface, it considerably reduces the evaporation of water providing additional savings to the customer, without affecting flora and fauna.

Challenges

Since the water level in any water body is not constant, the plant is designed with the flexibility of the water level. Developing an earthing system on a water body is also challenging, which in this case was resolved with our engineering expertise. Being a chemical industry, water stored in these ponds is an essential raw material and is to be used without any contamination for quality products.

Solutions

To ensure smooth execution, the floats provided are drinking water compliant, temperature & UV resistant (manufactured with food grade material). The plant generates Pond 1 - 900,200 kWh in year one of commissioning with an annual degradation of the 0.5 to 0.6 % and Pond 2 - 1,093,300 kWh in year one of commissioning with an annual degradation of the 0.5 to 0.6 %.

The project was commissioned in a short period of 4 months.

Tata Power Solar has touched another milestone by commissioning 300MW DC in 2GW Pavagada Solar Park, Karnataka for SoftBank Group. The installation area stretch was 270 acres. The commissioned project has an installation of robot cleaning system. The entire area has grading at 2 degrees for Robo movement, motion sensors in street light and heavy canopy with motorized gate. Along with this, the project matches all the safety and quality standard parameters as per government mandate.

Approximately 9,05,138 modules were used in the project which includes Crystalline, Risen etc. to name a few. For the smooth processing of the installation, 16 Inverters (rating 3.125 MW), 4 Inverter Transformers (rating- 12.5 MVA), and 2 Power Transformers (rating- 25 MVA) have been used.

The project faced few unique challenges like delivery of major equipment, limited timelines, short supply of cables etc. Despite many hurdles, our highly experienced project execution team backed by deep understanding of the technology, helped deliver the project before time.

Benefits

  • CO2 offset: 2,52,197 tonnes per year
  • The plant generates annual energy yield: 5,04,395 MWh
  • The project was completed within timeframe of 6 months

Supporting Tata Steel’s initiative in reducing carbon footprint, Tata Power Solar commissioned a 3 MW Solar PV Power Plant in the Iron Ore Mine at Noamundi. This is the 1st Solar Power Plant of its kind solar power plant at any iron ore mine in the country. The project will help in reducing CO2 emission by about 3000 tonnes per annum.

Reiterating Tata Steel`s commitment to clean energy, Mr. Narendran said: "We have constantly looked at opportunities to exploit renewable energy sources. This is yet another milestone in our quest to become a sustainability driven company, committed to exploring clean energy solutions. Renewable energy is the best way of mitigating the impact of climate change."

Synergy between three Tata companies, namely, Tata Steel, Tata Power Solar and Tata Power Trading Company was instrumental in shaping the project into reality. With Tata Steel as the sole buyer of all electricity at a contracted tariff, this partnership demonstrates Tata Steel's commitment to climate action and voice support for supporting a strong outcome at the UN Climate Change Conference Paris 2015 (COP 21).

Tata Power Solar successfully completed a 10 MW solar power plant commissioned by Jindal Aluminum Ltd (JAL) in Chitradurga, located 230 km from Bengaluru, Karnataka. Executed in a record timeframe of 4 months from the day the land was made available in January 2012, through this project Tata Power Solar demonstrated leadership in high-efficiency solar power systems and built Karnataka’s largest solar power plant till date.

AL mandated Tata Power Solar to commission a 10 MW solar power plant under the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) scheme. To provide a sustainable source for energy to Jindal, one of the industry’s renowned manufacturing company, that solely relies on conventional grid connected source of energy for their end-to-end manufacturing posed two-fold challenge – solving for site complexities coupled with a smart plant design.
This plant located in Kalamarahalli, near Chitradurga, about 230 km from Bengaluru, Karnataka, has a site classified as complex by terrain due to high wind pressure and a rocky non-agricultural land that is difficult to work with.
